Encamp Adventures Offsets 6,000,000 kg of CO₂e, Making Travel Climate-Aware

Encamp Adventures offsets 6,000,000 kg of CO₂e, linking travel with credible climate action and blockchain-based traceability for responsible journeys.

From exploring the world to protecting its future, every journey can become an opportunity to make a difference.

October 24 marks the International Day of Climate Action (also known as the International Day Against Climate Change) and United Nations Day, Encamp Adventures marked its climate-awareness initiative by offsetting 60,00,000 Kg of Carbon Dioxide equivalent (CO₂e), a step the company says shows how travel experiences can connect Customers with measurable climate action.

For Encamp Adventures, travel has always been about discovering new destinations, experiencing different cultures and creating memories that last a lifetime. But in a world increasingly affected by climate change, we believe that the meaning of travel can go further.

What if every journey could contribute to something bigger than the journey itself?

This question is shaping our approach to sustainable tourism, responsible travel and carbon offsetting—bringing climate awareness into the travel experience and helping customers understand how tourism businesses can participate in climate action.

In a travel industry where customers increasingly have the opportunity to choose how and where they travel, the question is no longer only where to go, but how. Encamp Adventures is building a proposition that goes beyond conventional tour packages, integrating responsible tourism and carbon offsetting into the customer experience and giving travellers another reason to choose a journey that aligns with their values using blockchain mechanism.

For the company, sustainability is not meant to be a separate product or an afterthought. It is an opportunity to make the travel experience more meaningful, transparent and distinctive.

Climate action as part of the journey

A concrete milestone

On International Day Against Climate Change carbon offset was part of an initiative dedicated to raising awareness about the urgency of climate change and more 20,00000 CO₂e

Is planned to be offset until next year with upcoming travel tours. These carbon credits are offsetted by Carbon Trace which is part of another Sustainability Oriented tech platform created by Encamp Adventures and associated projects for getting these carbon credits are related with a sustainability approach of the projects that generates carbon credits for climate-mitigation and green environment purposes, and the initiative reflects its approach of connecting travel with climate projects spanning biogas, agricultural waste management, wind power, solar energy and hydropower.

Transparency Through Carbon Credit Records

Credibility is fundamental to any carbon offset initiative. To help substantiate the reported activity, Encamp Adventures maintains transaction information recording carbon units, dates and statuses.

The records supplied for this initiative include both credited units and retired units. These statuses represent different stages of the carbon credit lifecycle and should not be treated as interchangeable.

Credited units indicate that units have been recorded as credited under the relevant system. Retired units indicate that credits have been withdrawn from circulation for a stated purpose, subject to the applicable registry or platform rules.

For transparency, the transaction records should be reconciled with the total amount claimed as offset, including the relevant unit definitions, project identifiers and retirement evidence.

This documentation is important because meaningful climate action depends not only on the volume reported, but also on the integrity of the underlying records.

What 6,000,000 kg looks like in trees

To put the figure in perspective, this table estimates how many trees would be needed to absorb the same amount of carbon dioxide, assuming about 21 kg of CO₂ per tree per year.

A responsible approach to carbon credits

The company’s approach to carbon credit sourcing prioritises environmental integrity, social responsibility and transparent governance. Through projects listed on the UCR platform, it aims to move beyond traditional interpretations of the additionality test, which often focuses on whether a project would have taken place without carbon finance, and to place greater emphasis on demonstrable positive impact.

At the heart of this approach is the principle of “Do No Harm.” Projects considered for inclusion are expected to avoid adverse impacts on local communities and the environment while contributing to responsible, sustainable development. Environmental, social and governance (ESG) considerations are a key part of how eligible projects are evaluated.

Rather than relying solely on hypothetical counterfactual scenarios, the framework supports eligible green projects drawn from a predefined list of activities, with an emphasis on environmental benefits, social safeguards and responsible implementation.

Fossil-fuel exclusion is another important principle: projects covered by this approach do not rely on coal or other fossil fuels. The platform also does not set aside carbon credits as buffer reserves to insure against future calamities or unforeseen events, which reflects a distinct approach to credit issuance and project design.

Together, these principles are meant to support a more responsible carbon market, one that places environmental protection, community well-being and credible climate action at the centre of project development.

Open to companies of every size

The company says it is open to working with small companies working on carbon traceability, as well as with large companies in the same field. By keeping the approach safe for the environment and open to participants of all sizes, it hopes to make credible climate action more accessible.

Why this matters for customers

Encamp Adventures is working towards a travel experience in which customers can enjoy destinations, local cultures, outdoor adventures and accommodation while also engaging with the environmental consequences of their choices. Its approach is designed to make responsible travel more accessible and understandable through three connected ideas:

Travel
explore destinations and experiences that customers value.
Climate action
connect journeys with carbon-offsetting initiatives.
Traceability
support the climate-action claim with appropriate digital records and evidence.

The business opportunity

Embedding climate action into the customer journey also represents a potential point of differentiation beyond price and destination. The company believes the approach could help it:

  • Build a recognisable responsible-travel proposition
  • Appeal to travellers who value sustainability and meaningful experiences
  • Strengthen brand trust through better documentation of environmental claims
  • Develop opportunities in corporate travel, institutional partnerships and sustainability-conscious group experiences
  • Create a foundation for future digital reporting and climate-impact communication

October 24: A milestone in a climate-aware travel vision

The offset is a concrete milestone in the company’s effort to connect travel with climate awareness. More importantly, it communicates the direction in which the company wants to develop: a travel experience that considers not only where customers go, but also how their journeys relate to the world around them. As the travel sector evolves, Encamp Adventures sees an opportunity to demonstrate that exploration and environmental responsibility can be part of the same experience.

“Our vision is simple,” the company says: “make every journey more meaningful, make climate action more transparent, and help travellers leave a positive footprint.”
