GroupA journey of learning from forests and the people who live with them
Living with the Forests is a community-based initiative connecting people with forest communities through immersive learning journeys. Rooted in the Eastern Himalayas, it supports the preservation and sharing of ecological knowledge, oral histories and practices passed down through generations.
This edition takes place in Sepi, near Rimbick on the fringes of Singalila National Park. Here, the Kirati Rai community’s relationship with forests is deeply woven into their beliefs, spirituality, food and everyday life. Through shared learning and dialogue, the programme supports cultural continuity and responsible tourism rooted in conservation and community ownership.
What makes it special: Learn directly from local knowledge keepers—elders, artisans, healers and cultural practitioners. Forest walks, storytelling and hands-on experiences offer an intimate understanding of a way of life shaped by generations of living with nature.
